Bayfront Park is a waterfront hub of recreation with multipurpose sports fields and courts for tennis and basketball. Many classes, sports teams, and special cultural events are organized at the Bayfront Park Recreation Center. Bicentennial Park is a relaxing one-acre greenspace featuring landscaped shrubs, trees, and flower beds.

Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium is a major attraction on Longboat Key. More than 100 marine animal species are on display here at the Mote Marine Aquarium. The aquarium’s recreated habitats include a 135,000-gallon shark tank and a coral reef teeming with diverse fish, crustaceans, and sea jellies. Other popular exhibits include alligators, caimans, manatees, river otters, and sea turtles.

Close to the aquarium, Ken Thompson Park is a great place to begin your adventure on the waters surrounding Longboat Key. The park has a launch for boats, canoes, and kayaks alongside a fishing pier and a mangrove boardwalk.

Longboat Key is also home to the award-winning Longboat Key Club, an iconic establishment for over 60 years.
